Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and shape into patties.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side, until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5 minutes until softened. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir.
- Gradually add beef broth to the skillet, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Allow the gravy to simmer until it thickens.
- Return the cooked patties to the skillet, nestling them in the gravy, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve the Salisbury steak garnished with fresh parsley.
